frontline workers & veterans
For people who work at the sharp end
Police, ambulance, fire, emergency services, corrections, health staff and veterans. Support that assumes you have already seen a great deal.
Two things make SiSU different for this work, and neither is a marketing line.
Every instructor is trained in trauma-informed practice, not only the psychologists and counsellors. That means the person taking your Saturday reformer class understands why a hand on your shoulder without warning is not a small thing, and has been taught not to do it.
Service dogs are welcome everywhere in the studio, classes included. As far as we can tell, no other studio in Canberra offers this. Your dog stays with you, in the class, in the consulting room, wherever you are.
If you can, tell us when you book. Not because there is any hurdle, but so we can have the space ready and give other members a heads up that a service dog will be there.

the questions we get asked first
Straight answers
Will what I say stay confidential, given my employer and my colleagues?
This is the first thing most people ask us, and you deserve a precise answer rather than a general one. Confidentiality depends on your circumstances, including how your sessions are funded, so we will go through exactly how your records are handled before you book anything.
Call reception on (02) 6198 8695 and ask. You can also ask the clinician directly in a first appointment, before you discuss anything you would rather keep private.
Do the instructors understand shift work and hypervigilance?
Yes. Trauma-informed training covers what hypervigilance does in a room with people behind you, why some classes are harder after nights, and why consistency matters more than intensity when your roster is unpredictable. Tell us your roster and we will help you build something that survives it.
Can I bring my service dog?
Yes, in every area of the studio, including classes. If you can, let us know when you book. That gives us time to have the space ready for the two of you, and to let other members know a service dog will be there.
How do I start with a psychologist here?
Through reception rather than an online booking, so we can match you with the right clinician and talk through availability before anything is locked in.
Call (02) 6198 8695, or send an enquiry and we will come back to you within one business day. If a phone call is the harder first step, use the form.
The movement and recovery side of the studio can be booked online at any time, and plenty of people start there.
What if I do not want to talk about any of it yet?
That is a reasonable place to start. Plenty of people begin with movement and recovery only, and come to the psychology side months later, or not at all. Nothing here requires you to tell your story to get in the door.
